| Mahatma Gandhi Road in Pune, India - a short walk from where Offbeat presenter Karishmeh Felfeli grew up. |
In this edition of Offbeat, presenter Karishmeh Felfeli revisits the music she heard as a child, influenced in part, by the people in her life. From an elderly Parsi couple - Piroja and Rustom Contractor, to her parents and grandparents on both sides, the music ranges from obscure (Byculla-born Tony Brent) to widely popular (Lulu), from India and Iran (Raj Kapoor and Dariush Eghbali) to the West (Yehudi Menuhin). There is a strong connection running through the program - Yehudi Menuhin was no stranger to Pune, for instance, and his paths crossed with Piroja Contractor when he visited the city. To learn more, and to get a glimpse into some of the music that shaped Karishmeh's childhood, revisit the program at the Offbeat Music Player Page.
